Presentation of the EIA Study for the Project: “Construction of waste incinerator for production of electricity and heat, in the Northeast Region” 

The Team of “EcoMosaic”hasprepared the draft version of the Environmental Impact Assessment Study for the Project: “Construction of waste incinerator for production of electricity and heat, in the Northeast Region”.

Investor of the waste incineration plant is the Common Public Enterprise “Eco-Zone” from Kumanovo.The Experts from the team has presented the key findings of the project in terms of using of best available techniques and EU standards for maximum protection environment that will be applied in the design, construction and daily operation of the waste incinerator and proposed measures to reduce or mitigate the potential negative environmental impacts and environmental monitoring plan. The waste incinerator would be located in the settlement Dobrosane, near the wastewater treatment plant in Kumanovo. The installation will used communal and other non-hazardous waste from municipalities in North – Eastern Region for producing the electrical and thermal energy.

The EIA Study waspresented on 12.06.2013 during the public hearing event in North East Planning Region in Kumanovo. According the national and EU legislation for EIA, after receivingof the Report of the adequacy of the ESIA Study from the Ministry of environment and physical planning, the final ESIA Study will be submitted for approval.
